Project overview

Hepburn Shire Council is passionate about sustainability. Our community selected environmental sustainability as their number one priority during the Hepburn Together Community Vision engagement process in 2020-2021, and again during the community engagement for the development of the Sustainable Hepburn strategy.

We are conducting this survey to gain insight into current waste and recycling behaviours. This will help Council explore how to better support residents on their low-waste journeys.

The Victorian government has enacted the Circular Economy (Waste Reduction and Recycling) Act 2021 which will require Council to reshape waste services in the future. We want to better understand how people currently use their 2 or 3-stream (for Clunes residents) services to help shape the delivery of new waste services in line with the Circular Economy Act 2021.

The results of this survey will allow Council to identify gaps in recycling knowledge to help with future education programs and resources, ensuring that all residents have the necessary tools to recycle right.

How to participate

Have your say by completing this quick survey. The survey will close on Friday 9 June.

Next steps

The waste team will assess the survey data in June/July 2023, and provide the engagement findings summary report via Hepburn Participate.
