October update

We are excited to announce that works are anticipated to commence at the end of October and should be completed by mid-November (weather permitting). Temporary site fencing will be installed to ensure the safety of reserve users while the works are carried out.

Installation will include a pod set up with a combination of static and dynamic equipment including:

  • Aerobic walker (cardio)
  • Back extension (back strength)
  • Tai chi wheels (mobility)
  • Bench press (chest strength)
  • Stretch station (full body strength and cardio)

The outdoor fitness space has been designed through community feedback and incorporates accessible design features. Each piece of equipment will have a QR code that links to an online demonstration of use.

We look forward to providing this equipment to increase free health and wellbeing opportunities for the Trentham community.

Background

The delivery of outdoor fitness spaces throughout the Shire aligns with the Council Plan 2021-2025 by optimising the use of public spaces to increase participation and community connection as well as building and maintaining quality infrastructure that supports and promotes liveability and active living in the community. In addition, the project will meet Councils vision identified in the Playspace Strategy 2020-2030 of having a network of engaging, inclusive and sustainable intergenerational playspaces that are reflective of our people and our places.

Why Outdoor Fitness Equipment?

The installation of the outdoor fitness equipment within Trentham Sportsground will play a vital role by increasing free health and wellbeing opportunities for the Trentham community.

Following a period of planning and community engagement undertaken to plan for the future provision of outdoor fitness equipment in the Trentham Township, the Trentham Sportsground Reserve was determined as the most suitable site due to its proximity to the main street; and that it would complement the active recreation use of the reserve. We also heard through the engagement that the outdoor fitness space design should consider a combination of static and dynamic equipment to cater for all ages and abilities.

The project has received $44,970 funding through Regional Development Victoria’s 2024 Tiny Towns Fund.

The project is being delivered through a partnership between the Victorian Government and Council with the project to be completed by December 2025.
