Sustainable Hepburn Advisory Committee
Are you passionate about the local environment? Are you well connected to one aspect of the Hepburn Shire community through the work that you do?
We are looking for community members from diverse walks of life to partner with us to deliver the Sustainable Hepburn Strategy through targeted advice, communication, outreach and engagement.
All we ask is that you attend at least three committee meetings per year and set aside time to prepare and follow up from these. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to one or more working groups or project reference groups that reflect your expertise, if desired.
If you’re interested in stepping up to this role, we invite you to read the Strategy, think about where your interests, expertise and community connections align and fill out the application form. If you have any questions regarding whether you are suited to the role or what is involved, please read the Terms of Reference and don’t hesitate to give us a call for a friendly chat.
We would like to foster a fun and engaging community advisory group that provides a rewarding experience for all. You can expect to meet other interesting and diverse members of our community who share your passion, but offer different knowledge and insights.
This strategy was co-designed with the community and is ideally delivered with the community. As a Council we will do most of the heavy lifting, but see this Advisory Group as a critical body to ensure we are in touch with community as we implement the actions it sets out.
Submissions will be accepted until 25 November 2024.
Sustainable Hepburn Strategy 2022-2026
Sustainable Hepburn 2022-26 is the Hepburn Shire Council’s new environmental sustainability strategy acknowledging the interconnected nature of climate change, biodiversity and waste management. The strategy updates Council’s commitment to further reduce our corporate greenhouse gas emissions, protect and enhance our local biodiversity, transition to a low waste Shire and become more resilient to the impacts of climate change. Sustainable Hepburn includes actions for council to reduce impact on its own operations as well as actions to assist the community.
