Project overview

Council is working towards Victorian Government waste standardisation requirements which make it easier for residents to sort material at home, reduce contamination, increase recovery and reduce waste to landfill.

All Victorian councils will be required to offer a standardised four-stream bin system with separate services for:

  • glass recycling
  • food and garden organics
  • mixed recycling
  • general rubbish.

We currently offer:

  • general rubbish (township and rural fortnightly service)
  • mixed recycling (currently includes glass) – fortnightly service, drop off at transfer stations
  • food and garden organics (townships weekly service), drop off organics
  • glass drop off (optional) at transfer stations

We are seeking your input into our resource recovery services. We want to know what works for you and how we can best service our residents while meeting regulatory obligations.

We have two surveys available, one for township residents and one for rural residents. Please complete the survey that best suits you. You can request a hard copy of the surveys at any of our Council hubs, transfer stations or libraries.

Surveys will close Monday 19 May.

Next steps

The information gathered will be used to help prepare a plan for the next few years as the team work towards meeting the Victorian Government Recycling Victoria policy.

A summary of a report provided to the Council will be provided on this page.
