Project overview
We are reviewing our Outdoor Dining and Trading Policy (19C) and developing new guidelines. Outdoor dining and trading typically includes elements such as tables, chairs, barrier screens, umbrellas, A-frame signage, display stands and planter boxes on Council owned and managed roads and land. It also plays a vital role in fostering a strong local economy and creating welcoming places for our community and visitors. We are committed to continuing to support our towns to thrive, as highlighted in the Hepburn Shire Council Plan 2021-2025, but we also need to ensure that outdoor dining and trading is done safely in our shared public spaces. We aim to achieve this by balancing the needs and expectations our local businesses, community and visitors and ensuring that our approach is fair and equitable. |
How to participate
We sought feedback from local businesses, community and visitors on outdoor trading and dining within Hepburn Shire via a short survey. The survey closed on Friday 14 April 2023.
Next steps
The results and feedback received via the survey will help inform our work as we develop a revised Outdoor Dining and Trading Policy (19c) and accompanying Guidelines. The revised policy and new guidelines will be presented to Council for endorsement prior to being placed on public exhibition in May 2023.
