Project overview
The provision of a playspace within Newlyn Recreation Reserve was identified as one of the key recommendations of the long-term vision of the Newlyn Recreation Reserve Masterplan.
The playspace feasibility project aligns with the Council Plan 2021-2025 and will meet Council’s Playspace Strategy 2020-2030 vision of having a network of engaging, inclusive and sustainable playspaces that are reflective of our people and our places.
The Newlyn Recreation Reserve Playspace Feasibility Project will consider the feasibility of the Newlyn Recreation Reserve Playspace including the:
- retainment of the playspace within the existing location (adjacent to the Midland Highway) inclusive of renewal works to the playground equipment or possible.
- relocation of the playspace to an alternative location within Newlyn Recreation Reserve.
The project has received $18,750 funding through Regional Development’s Victoria 2024 Tiny Towns Fund with contributions from Hepburn Shire Council towards the delivery of the project.
The feasibility of the provision of a playspace within the Newlyn Recreation Reserve will inform the future planning and enhancement opportunities of the reserve.
The project is being delivered through a partnership between the State Government and Council with the project to be completed by February 2026.
