Background
The Glenlyon Recreation Reserve Accessible Horse Mounting Ramp Project will provide an accessible horse mounting ramp at Glenlyon Recreation Reserve to further enhance the diversity of equestrian opportunities within the reserve.
The provision of an accessible horse mounting ramp was a priority action from the Glenlyon Recreation Reserve Masterplan, endorsed by Council in April 2024.
Why an Accessible Horse Mounting Ramp at Glenlyon Recreation Reserve?
The Glenlyon Recreation Reserve has a strong connection with the local equestrian community with Daylesford Riding for the Disabled, Glenlyon & District Pony Club and Glenlyon & District Riding Club key user groups at the reserve. This project will continue to build that connection with the reserve.
The Glenlyon Recreation Reserve hosts many equestrian club activities and events, including annual racing meets. The introduction of an accessible horse mounting ramp will benefit the venue and allow broader reach for future equestrian use, especially those focused on including riders with lower mobility.
The project has received $37,500 from the State Government - Tiny Towns Fund.
The project is being delivered through a partnership between the State Government and Council with the project anticipated to be completed by July 2025.Contact Us
