Project overview

North Central CMA has partnered with Hepburn Shire Council to undertake removal of Weeds of National Significance such as Willow, Blackberry and Gorse, as part of preventing further decline of waterway health in the Creswick Creek in Clunes.

The objective of this project is to enhance the creek’s natural values (such as the habitat it provides for wildlife) and improve water quality and supply and reduce the flood risk in Clunes by increasing the capacity of the waterway by removing exotic woody vegetation within the creek that threatens to choke the waterway.

This is to be achieved by removing the build-up of exotic tree growth within Creswick Creek that has occurred since January 2011.

The project will be prioritising woody weed growth within the

Creswick creek bed area and will address 3 priority areas, with priority areas 1 & 2 being started initially, see map of priority areas below.
