Project Complete - December 2023

The Creswick Bowling Green Redevelopment project is now complete and was handed over to the Creswick Bowling Club for use prior to Christmas 2023.

The Creswick Bowling Green Redevelopment was officially opened by Catherine King MP - Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government on Wednesday 24th April.

Members of the Creswick Bowling Club were appreciative of the project being completed and thanked both the Australian Federal Government and Council for their financial support and project management/delivery of the project and are really enjoying bowling on the new green.

The project included the full redevelopment of the bowling green due to damage caused by the storm and flooding event in 2022. Works included the construction of a suspended slab concrete base designed to combat the sites reactive soil conditions and protect the green from future storm or flooding events and the playing surface finish a synthetic bowling green carpet.

As a result of the works, the Creswick Bowling Club have diversified their participation opportunities, including the introduction of barefoot bowls, to attract an increased community involvement at the Club.

Project update - October 2023

The Creswick Bowling Green Redevelopment project is progressing well with the suspended concrete slab subbase recently completed by PM Building.

Sub-contractor Berry Bowling Systems has commenced works for the installation of the new synthetic bowling green.

The project is still on track for an anticipated completion and handover this year.

Project update - August 2023

The redevelopment is progressing well, thanks to rigorous planning and favourable weather conditions. After demolishing the existing bowling green, PM Builders has been able to install new drainage and overflows, install the 400 subbase screw piles and commence pouring of the suspended concrete slab subbase. During demolition of the previous bowling green, the old synthetic turf was recycled and has been donated to members of the Creswick Bowling Club and the wider community.

On completion of the suspended concrete slab subbase, sub-contractor Berry Bowling Systems will undertake installation of the bowling green, which is anticipated to commence in late September or early October. The project remains on track for its anticipated completion and handover to the Creswick Bowling Club in late 2023 or early 2024.

Project update - July 2023

Project construction is now underway with dry weather allowing for a productive end to the month. Over the previous weeks the construction contractor was able to establish the site, demolish the existing green, undertake screw pile testing, and install the stormwater discharge point.

In the coming weeks we aim to undertake the remaining bulk earthworks and commence installation of the subbase screw piles.

Project overview

The Creswick bowling green, located at Doug Lindsay Recreation Reserve, is set to undergo a full redevelopment due to irreparable damage caused by a storm and flooding event in 2022. PM Building, a Ballarat-based construction contractor, has been appointed to carry out the redevelopment works. Berry Bowling Systems will act as a sub-contractor responsible for installing the synthetic bowling green.

The redevelopment plans include the construction of a suspended slab concrete base. This design will combat the site’s reactive soil conditions and help protect the green from future storm or flooding events, preventing similar damage.

The restoration of the bowling green is of great importance as it serves as the only bowling facility in the Creswick township. It not only caters to the Creswick Bowling Club but also accommodates local community groups, schools, and other members of the broader community.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2023 or early 2024.
