Project Overview

This competition is to encourage storm affected residents to share their visual stories of the storm and the twelve months since.

A story, when pared down, is a series of events about something as told to an audience. They can invoke powerful emotion and help us align our experiences to make sense of them. Through stories we can connect and empathise with one another, providing insight and unity. Stories are not only written, they can be told through images. This is one of the most successful ways of passing knowledge or information down through the generations.

Because stories are important, we hope this photography competition will encourage storm affected residents to submit two images that tell a story; it can be about the actual event, the aftermath, the intervening period or an emotion that has arisen from it. Some examples are the change in landscape, routine, relationships, mementoes, emotions, and attitudes.

Please tell us your stories with a photo and anything up to 200 words describing it.

Open to all storm-affected residents of Hepburn Shire. We look forward to hearing from you!

Competition closes 7 August 2022.
